Background
The Ratel Infantry Fighting Vehicle is the primary Infantry Fighting Vehicle for the Marines and Marine Special Action Force. Able to ford water extremely well with it's high profile and vehicle design, the Ratel is perfect for the Marines' needs.
There are no current plans to replace the Ratel through the New Fleet Modernization Program, rather give the tried and trusted Ratel upgrades as needed to keep it competitive in the war zone.
The Ratel Infantry Fighting Vehicle was designed and built by Future Armor Systems and has served the Marines for almost 40 years, with additional design upgrades (up to Ratel Model 7) keeping the vehicle extremely useful. Future Armor Systems was recently bought-out by Striker Heavy Munitions Works, who plans on keep producing the vehicle until it designs a replacement.
